A day in the life of a Humboldt tree hugger

Carol who is a devoted a tree hugger , purchased a piece of land in Humboldt county California with her partner Darryl . One day Carol & Darryl wanted to see just how big their tract of land was. So, being the solution oriented person she is, Carol came up with this idea.

She found the tallest tree on the property and decided to climb to the top so she could survey all the land. So she started to climb the big tree. As she neared the top, she encountered a spotted owl that became spooked and attacked her. In her haste to escape, she slid down the tree to the ground very fast and got many splinters in her, eh'hem... private parts. In considerable pain, she hurried to the Garberville clinic to see the doctor. Being a tree hugger himself, the doctor listened to Carols' story with great patience and then told her to go into the examining room and he would see if he could help her. Now, no one is in a hurry in Humboldt country because they are all laid back on "Humboldt time". However, Carol sat and waited for three hours before the doctor reappeared. At this point she was very frustrated and demanded, What took you so long? He apologized for taking so long and then told her, "I had to get permits from the Environmental Protection Agency, the Forest Service, and the Bureau of Land Management before I could remove old-growth timber from a recreational area!!! " Work of heart" When you think no one notices

Just when you think no one notices your good deeds, You get surprised.
Periodically I have been taking in the new neighbors trash can just as I always have for the ex-neighbor. No biggie, it's right there next to mine and it goes to the same place. I used to take it in every week, but then one day I noticed the man who lives there drag his trash can right past me without saying anything. Maybe he didn't know or didn't care. None the less, after that I stopped bringing in his trash can as often...
Then one day, out of the blue, this beautiful little girl about 9 years old, came up to me and asked, " scuse me sir, are you the person who has been bringing in our trash can?" I said " why yes, that would be me." Well, she said, I just wanted to thank you, because all this time we thought it was a ghost. . .
Later on that day I received a knock at the door. It was my little neighbor friend. She was nervously anxious as she proclaimed she had something for me. Then she handed me this beautiful hand made thank you card. A wonderful "work of heart". I noticed her kind eyes seeking confirmation in mine, that her gesture of kindness pleased me. As I thanked her from my heart, her nervousness melted, and as she skipped away, pleased with her deed of kindness.
It was a wonderful reminder to me that though you may not receive immediate gratification, it is human nature to deed kindness. So keep on being human and offering kindness because sooner or later it will be noticed and acknowledged when you least expect it and in the sweetest of ways.
